MYYS is a candle studio based in Karjaa, Finland, founded in 2020.
We make objects for the home, beginning with candles. Our work is rooted in an appreciation for ordinary life — the objects we live with, the materials we touch, and the small gestures that quietly shape our days.
A candle is simple by nature: wax, glass, fragrance and a flame. We are interested in how these elements come together through form, material and scent, and how an object changes through use — lit and extinguished, moved from one place to another, and gradually becoming part of a home.
Rather than making the everyday extraordinary, MYYS is about noticing what is already there.
Name
MYYS is a word play on the Swedish word mysigt, meaning cozy or snug.
For us, it describes something less literal — a sense of ease that comes from familiar surroundings and the small rituals of being at home. A light left on, something resting on a table, a candle burning while dinner is being made.
It is a feeling found in ordinary life rather than created for an occasion.
Studio Mark
Alongside the MYYS wordmark, we use a studio mark that represents the place where our candles are made.
The mark comes from the view through our studio window — its wooden frame and the trees outside reduced to a simple form.
Like a maker’s mark, it connects each candle to its place of making. It is a small sign of the studio, the hands and the processes behind the object.
Material
Material is central to how we develop our candles.
Vegetable waxes, fragrance, glass and paper are considered not only for how they perform, but for how they look, feel and change through use.
Our raw materials are sourced from Finland and across Europe. Each scent is formulated in our studio, layer by layer, using fine fragrances and natural oils to create compositions with balance, depth and character.
Production
Every MYYS candle is developed and hand-poured in small batches in our studio in Karjaa.
From scent formulation and wax development to pouring, finishing and applying each label by hand, the process remains deliberately close to the material.
Each candle is presented in a reusable Italian glass vessel and made to become part of the home — an object to use and live with.
